Loan Administrator (Part-time)

Rise Asset Development is a registered charity that provides low-interest small business loans, training and mentorship to individuals with a history of mental health and addictions challenges. Founded as a partnership between the Rotman School of Management and the Canadian Mental Health Association (CAMH), Rise services are available in several locations in Ontario.

Rise is a character based lender, with decisions based on a variety of factors, including stage of business development, viability of the business concept and capacity to re-pay. Eligible entrepreneurs can access loans up to $10,000.

Position Summary

Rise is growing and we are looking for a passionate self-starter to become our Loan Administrator.   You will be responsible for the administration of Rise’s loan portfolio, including loan documentation, disbursement and ongoing compliance and reporting.

The ideal candidate is detail oriented, with excellent analytical skills, and is an empathetic and supportive relationship builder, with a strong service and solution orientation.

To be successful, the Loan Administrator must be organized, resourceful, self-assured and persistent. This is a part-time position (15-18 hours per week) with a potential to grow to full-time.

Key Job Responsibilities 

  • Loan Closing & Disbursement (20 %)
    • Documentation compliance (ensure compliance of documents prior to disbursement of funds)
    • Record keeping (paper and in Rise’s CRM system)
    • Set up loan disbursement and repayment schedules in the CRM 
  • Loan Administration (50 %)
    • Maintain integrity and accuracy of the loan portfolio
      • Repayment monitoring and client follow-up.
      • Delinquency reporting
      • Update CRM and loan servicing system with payment and other information 
  • Compliance and Reporting (30 %)
    • Monitor and respond to client requests
    • Report preparation for management, board of directors and funders


  • Exposure to clients in a customer centric role
  • Experience working with or exposure to challenged/marginalized communities or individuals who have experienced mental health or addiction issues
  • Experience in a lending or small business environment
  • Good computer skills; superior Excel capabilities and familiarity with CRM and technology support tools
  • Experience with Salesforce is an asset
    • Other skills such as analytics, customer relations, coaching & consulting helpful
    • Undergraduate Degree or Diploma required
